Canadian Citizenship
Canadian Citizenship is the legal status granted to individuals who have met certain residency, language, and other requirements. At Pretzel Immigration Private Limited, we are dedicated to helping individuals navigate the process of obtaining Canadian citizenship, unlocking new opportunities for a prosperous future in one of the world’s most welcoming and diverse countries. Being a citizen of Canada offers various benefits such as access to public services, the right to vote, freedom to travel, dual citizenship, security, and employment opportunities.
Our Immigration consultants will guide you step-by-step through the citizenship application process ensuring that you meet all the requirements, and your application is completed accurately and on time.
Eligibility
To apply for Canadian citizenship, you must meet several criteria:
- You must be a permanent resident of Canada and have held that status for at least 3 years (1,095 days) in the past 5 years.
- Applicants in the age range of 18 to 54 years should provide evidence, recognized by an approved agency, as proof of their capability, competence, and skill in English or French language proficiency through language test results.
- If required under the Income Tax Act, you must have filed Canadian taxes for at least 3 years within the 5 years.
- Applicants aged 18 to 54 must pass a citizenship test that assesses their knowledge of Canadian history, values, geography, government, economy, and symbols. The test contains multiple-choice and true or false questions and lasts for 30 minutes.
Applicants with serious criminal convictions may be ineligible for citizenship. Also, if the applicant does not meet the minimum required residency days in Canada, cannot speak English or French, cannot provide the necessary proof of residency documentation, and does not pass the citizenship test, he/she may be ineligible for Canadian citizenship.
