Requirements

Registered Nurse

  • Must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or an equivalent degree from an accredited nursing program.

  • To specialize in a specific area of nursing, additional academic training or experience is required.

Main Duties

Registered Nurse

  • Assess patient health status and determine required nursing interventions.
  • Administer medications and treatments.
  • Monitor and evaluate patient progress.
  • Record by documenting every detail of the patient’s condition throughout the treatment.
  • Develop and implement care plans.
  • Assist in surgery or other medical procedures and operate and monitor medical equipment used for the same.
  • Educate patients and their families on healthcare issues and self-care techniques.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
  • May supervise other nursing staff.

Registered Psychiatric Nurse

  • Assess patients’ mental health and emotional well-being.
  • Educate patients and their families on managing mental health conditions.
  • Administer psychiatric medications and monitor for side effects.
  • Keep Record.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other professionals.
  • Provide supportive counselling.

Some other duties include providing nursing care in private businesses and industries, visiting homes to provide health education, and engaging in research activities.
